The Aim of a Family Group is to model themselves on the early Christians and to promote community within the parish, by sharing Christian life and supporting each other, especially in times of need. The adults give example to children and involve them in their Christian sharing.

What is a Family Group and
How do they function?
The term "family" in todays' parishes has taken on a broad definition, no longer restricted to "a wife, a husband, two kids and a dog." A Family Group is for everyone. It's an extension of your blood family if you have one, it BECOMES your family if you don't. Groups normally meet monthly but this is decided by each group. Their activities include picnics, barbecues, casserole nights, games nights, tennis afternoon, weekend camping, etc. It is recommended that a 50/50 mix of adult only/children included functions be held throughout the year, although some groups have predominately family outings - it all depends on the individual group.
