Gifu is situated near the centre of the Japanese archipelago on the island of Honshu. Gifu Prefecture consists of magnificent scenery ranging from specular mountains exceeding over 3000 metres in height in the north to open lowlands to the south . There are large national parks which during any season reflect their natural beauty. Also there is three beautiful rivers that start in the Japanese Alps and flow through unspoilt valleys to then across fertile plains.

HIDA DISTRICT. The HIDA is the mountainous district to the north of Gifu Prefecture.Takayama city is singularly dedicated to museums and the preservation of ancient folkways and arts. This city is called ' Little Kyoto " because of its old streets and houses resemble the quiet historic capital . There are numerous craft shops producing  and selling all varieties of crafts ranging from pottery , timber carving , paper making , and weaving. Situated in the beautiful mountainous region of the Hida is a small country town of Sugata-cho . This quiet town is surrounded by stunning scenery . There are numerous onsens in the Hida region.

MINO-KISOGAWA DISTRICT is situated where the Hida and the Mino region meet. The Hida river joins the Kiso River in this district thus along these two rivers there are National parks and beautiful scenery consisting of clean swift flowing water and spectacular ravines.  Visitors can enjoy a thrilling ride on the river and rapids by sightseeing boats.FUSHIMI is a small country town , well worth a visit because of its natural beauty and historical and culture significant.
