To set up your modem you should:
- Connect modem cables to your computer.
- Click on the Start button.
- Click on settings.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on Modems.
- Click on add.
- Click on detect (preferred) or dont detect, I will
select modem from list.
- Click on next.
- If Windows did not detect your modem, you will need to select it
from the list.
If Windows did not detect your modem, or you selected dont
detect, I will select modem from list, you will be offered a list from which to select
the modem you are using. To do this:
- Scroll down the list of modem brand names offered to find your
modem brand name. (If the brand name of your modem can not be found select standard
modem.)
- Click on the brand name, e.g. Banksia.
- Scroll down the list of models offered to find your modem model.
E.g., Wave sp56.
- Highlight the COM port. (communications port)
- Click next.
- Click finished.
- Click OK.
- Connect to the Internet to ensure it works.
To slow modem speed down
- Click on Start.
- Click on settings.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on modems.
- Click on properties.
- Click on the down arrow in maximum speed and
select 38400kbs
Note: If you are still having problems you may need to
slow your modem down even more.
