Type in your User Name and password Ø If you are on a the Unlimited plan (you pay 27.95 per month) you will need to leave the capital U out, example, if your username is Ujoebloggs you will need to leave the capital U off so it just says joebloggs. Connection keeps on dropping out
Make sure there are not any
other phones or faxes on the same line, these will cause interference
on the line causing you to drop out. If unplugging all other phones
and faxes does not work you may need to put some extra settings in your
modem settings. These extra settings are called Init Strings. Init Strings
are only for 56k modems, they are used to change the modem speed from
56k to 33.6k. Follow the steps below to type in the Init Strings. Go to My Computer, Control
Panel, Modems. Type the extra setting (init string) in the box that has Extra Setting written above it.
Below are two init strings that should work. If you want to find a specific init string go to the web site http://www.modemhelp.net/
- AT&FS38=0 - AT&F+MS=V34
If the above does not work you may need to update your Modem driver.
1. Go to the website http://www.modemhelp.net/ and download the driver for your modem. 2. Install the new driver 3. Go to My Computer, Control Panel, Modem 4. Select the old driver and click Remove
I can receive Mail but I can’t send. I can’t send or receive Mail
Open Outlook Express My Incoming Mail server is a POP3 Incoming Mail (POP3): postbox.midcoast.com.au Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.midcoast.com.au
Make sure you use lowercase, use no spaces and spell them correctly. Make sure you do not have the caps lock on.
1. Go to the Web Site http://www.midcoast .com.au/ 2. Click on Your Account and then click on Online Usage 3. Type in your Username and Password
1. Open My Computer, Control Panel and Internet Options 2. On the General tab there is a Text box with Home Page written above it. Type in your desired Home Page address and click apply
1. Open My Computer, Control Panel, Internet Options 2. Select the Connections tab and then click Setup 3. A Internet Connection wizard should now appear on your screen 4. Select the third option (I want to setup my connection manually) and click next 5. Select first option (I connect through a phone line and modem and click next 6. Type in the phone number which is closest to the area you are in. Untick the dial using area and country code and click next 7. Type in your Username. Your username is the first part of your email address, eg if your email address is joebloggs@midcoast.com.au then joebloggs is your username. Type in your password making sure it is in lower case and click next 8. Type in Midcoast and click next 9. It will now ask if you want to setup a mail account, select yes and click next. 10. select create a new mail account and click next 11. Type in a display name for your email account, which is the name you would like other people to see when they receive your Email, and click next. 12. Type in your email address and click next type these settings in and
click next: My Incoming Mail server is a POP3 Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.midcoast.com.au
14. Type in your Username and your password making sure they are in lower case and click next 15. Click Finish
Can I have a list of your dial in numbers, mail servers and DNS settings?
1. Go to the web page http://www.midcoast.com.au/ 2. Click on the Helpdesk menu and select Dial in numbers.
Can I get a price list of your plans through the Midcoast web page?
1. Go to the web page http://www.midcoast.com.au/ 2. Click on the Services menu and select Internet Access
1. Check that the power is plugged in and turned on at both the wall and the Modem. 2. Check that it is plugged into the computer 3. Make sure the phone line is plugged into the modem 4. If the above does not work, find out what sort of modem you have, and install the latest drivers, you can find them from the web site http://www.modemhelp.net/
1. Make sure you are typing your Username and password in lower case with no spaces, making sure the caps lock is off. 2. 1. Go to My Computer 2. Go into Dial up Networking 3. Right click on the Midcoast account and go to properties 4. Type in the phone number

How can I view my payments and invoices?
1. Go to the web page http://www.midcoast.com.au/ 2. Go to Your Account 3. Select Online Usage 4. Type in your username and password 5. Enter your 4 digit customer number (you find this number on your invoice) in the box up the top of the page and click the Show Invoices button 6. To view your most current Invoice click the Current button located up the top of the invoice 7. To get a full view of an invoice, Click the button with the date on it which is located to the left of your desired invoice.
How do I check my mail through your web site? (for prepaid users)
1. Go to the website www.midcoast.com.au 2. Click on Check Ecopost Email 3. Type in your username and password and then click Logon 4. Click on the word Main 5. You will now see a list of mail (providing you have mail). 6. Click on the word in the subject column of the message you would like to view
