The Manning-Gloucester Business Enterprise Centre provides business officers to discuss any concerns that existing small business may have and to talk to people who may be looking at starting a new business.
This is a free service which is aimed at creating new jobs by helping unemployed people start up new businesses and also by discussing expansion plans or internal concerns with existing business.
Years of experience in business management by the BEC staff account for this excellent track record in creating new jobs through small business in the Gloucester, Great Lakes and Taree local government areas. The centre is partially funded by the NSW State Government on a dollar for dollar basis which means that 50% of the operating budget has to be raised by support from the local community.
While the BEC does not have access to funds for grants or loans to assist business, they are aware of any programs which may be applicable to individual cases and can assist in applying for help where it is appropriate.
Guidance is given to businesses - new or old in the areas such as business plan design, structuring costs, cash flow forecasts, sales or marketing programs, legal requirements of the venture and many other areas of both specific and general natures.
Computer based resources such as Biz Link which is a database of Government help programs available to the business community, Library of common business document - such as short term lease documents etc., and a number of other programs including the Local Business Register.
