Each dwelling at Patanga is surroundied by a generous area of land which is
considered it's home site. In this area residents may cultivate their
gardens. keep horses or other animals and pursue any other project which is
generally acceptable to the community. Much of the farm is certified by
Biodynamic Agriculture, Australia and it also has a smal self-supporting
dairy enterprise. Patanga is an official wild-life sanctuary, so dogs and
cats are not allowed.

Amongst the benefits of the communal nature of a multiple occupancy are the
sharing of effort and expense of property maintainence, the Community
House, internal roads, tractor and other agricultural implements and a pure
water supply. This support is ideal for any one wanting a lifestyle on the
land without the heavy committment often associated with individual
ownership of acreage. Resident shareholdèrs usually commit a few hours
weekly to general farm maintenance. A weekly levy (currently $20) on each
share helps maintain farm infrastructure and purchases as well as paying
the rates (which are not charged on individiual homes). Click here for a
